Drilling Tool Rentals & Sales in Kazakhstan

Giant Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak fields on the Caspian shelf.

Kazakhstan's giant Caspian fields — Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak — are among the most sour and high-pressure in the world, and Drillstrings supplies NACE-compliant, inspected drill string and downhole rental tools built for exactly those conditions.

Whether you need drilling tool rental, drill string rental, downhole tool rental or oilfield rental tools in Kazakhstan — to rent or buy — we quote within the hour.

Giant sour fields require premium connections and NACE-compliant material. Landlocked logistics via the Caspian and rail add lead-time considerations.

Drilling activity in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is anchored by three of the world’s giant fields, all in the greater Caspian region. Tengiz and Karachaganak are onshore supergiants, while Kashagan sits on the shallow northern Caspian shelf; together they define the country’s production and its technical challenges. These fields are notorious for being extremely sour — very high hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) content — and high-pressure, which makes metallurgy, well control and equipment integrity central concerns on every well.

The operating consortia — Tengizchevroil at Tengiz, NCOC at Kashagan and KPO at Karachaganak — run long, capital-intensive development and expansion programs. Drilling and workover activity here is unforgiving: the combination of sour gas, high pressure and Caspian logistics means equipment must be correctly specified, fully documented and reliably delivered.

What that means for the drill string

Sour, high-pressure service dictates the drill string. Tubulars must be selected to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 with controlled hardness and verified metallurgy, and BHAs must be built for high-pressure control and integrity. There is no room for uncertified or marginally specified material on these critical wells.

Material selection follows our sour-service tubular guide, with rigorous well control throughout.

Logistics and standards

Kazakhstan uses metric units and accepts API tubulars, but operators and the regulator often require GOST-equivalent documentation, so we map material certificates and inspection records accordingly. Inventory is inspected to DS-1 / API RP 7G-2 categories with serialized traceability and NACE material certification. Delivery relies on Caspian shipping and rail corridors, so we plan customs, cross-border transit and staging with vetted regional partners well ahead of the well. We work as an extension of the operator’s or drilling contractor’s rental fleet — see our global logistics guide and network.

For a sour, high-pressure Caspian well, send us your specifications and we’ll assemble a fully certified rental string.

FAQ

Renting in Kazakhstan

Do you rent drilling tools in Kazakhstan?
Yes. Drillstrings supplies inspected drill string and downhole rental tools across Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan through regional partners who handle in-country logistics, API 5DP-aligned certification and customs clearance.
What standards and units apply in Caspian & CIS?
Operations in Caspian & CIS typically work in metric (mm, kN·m, bar) and reference API 5DP, GOST equivalency, NACE MR0175. We supply tubulars and documentation aligned to these requirements.
How fast can rental tools reach a rig in Kazakhstan?
Lead times depend on customs and freight, but our regional partners expedite delivery and we quote within the hour, 24/7. For sour or HPHT wells common in the area we confirm NACE MR0175 material availability up front.
Is your drill string suitable for very sour service in Kazakhstan?
Yes. For Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak-type conditions we supply tubulars selected to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for high-H₂S, high-pressure service, with material certificates and hardness documentation to match the operator's critical-well requirements.
Can you provide GOST-equivalent documentation for Kazakh operators?
We supply API-based tubulars with material and inspection documentation mapped to GOST-equivalent requirements where operators or the regulator require it, and coordinate the paperwork alongside Caspian and rail logistics into the country.
